Resume | Philosophy of Music Education
Originating from a small beach town in southern New Jersey, Taryn O'Keefe is a saxophonist and music educator who currently resides in Seattle, Washington. As a seasoned performer, her career has taken her from earning a saxophone performance degree in Connecticut and performing throughout China, to learning Suzuki’s “Twinkle Variations” on violin and singing with a mixed choir in Seattle. From coast to coast and across the globe, she has worked with diverse groups of people and has an extraordinary appreciation for music’s role in protecting culture. Although she knows that music has taken her to such fascinating places, she believes that the most significant and meaningful place that music has led her was within the school music classroom. Taryn has recently earned a Master's degree in Music Education with K-12 Certification from the University of Washington, and is excited to spend her life collaborating with young musicians.
